NEW WORK: Leather Zipper Clutch

It's been a while since inspiration has moved me to work on a new bag. But yesterday it did just that! I dusted off my sewing machine and went to work. The result: Leather Zipper Clutches! I'm in love with the two-tone version in the photo above.
It all started with a leather jacket I found hiding in my mom's vintage clothing stash in the attic and a tunic that needed a new life. I fell in love with the subtle details of the leather and the pattern of the tunic.
These are just prototypes for now so you won't find them in the shop just yet. I always test out a new bag before it gets the stamp of approval for production. Luckily I'm off to Napa Valley next week! Perfect time to take these beauties out for a spin.

NEW WORK: I should make this?

I've been searching the archives for inspiration and found this. It's a sketch from a while ago that has yet to become a bag. Hmmm, should I make it?

Valenties Day at Make.Good studio

On Valentine's morning  had the most amazing delivery! John, our upholsterer neighbor, brought us an industrial sewing machine...a beautiful Singer. 

My heart soared.

We also have many new reclaimed fabrics in the studio! There are beautiful prints and solids, all coming in the spring/summer collection.

Our new SINGER sewing machine! Isn't she cute? I'm in love.

The MESSENGER has Finally Arrived!!

The Bernina

I have been dreaming of owning a Bernina sewing machine since I came to know what a Bernina sewing machine was. Sadly, that wasn't only about a year ago. Thankfully, I now own one!

My journey to the Bernina began a week ago. After breaking another sub-standard, retail grade machine, I decided on a whim to look on Craig's List for the elusive Bernina. To my surprise, there she was in Greenfield, MA, owned by a lovely sounding woman named Shirley. So, off I went on a two hour drive with my dog in the back seat to get her.

Doesn't look like much, right? Looks aren't everything. It's all about what's on the inside with this one.
