IN CONSTRUCTION: house to home

It's been three short months since this project began it's transformation from idea to reality. There has been demo and framing and lots of progress. I just love construction photos. They feel so raw and in some ways irreparable. It's hard to imagine that in just as much time it will look completely different...and trust me, it will! Can you see it?

CAUTION: UNDER CONSTRUCTION

This is how life feels lately; a bit like it has been dismantled and is waiting patiently to be put back together again.
You may have notices the absence of new bags, or any creative endeavors. There have been few.  So instead of worry, I've decided to think about this phase in life (that will surely pass) as one where the structure is strong, but it's been stripped down to the studs waiting to receive new finishes.
Until reconstruction begins, I'm working on staying focused on teaching and enjoying some down time at home with my little family. It's hard for me to not always be creating, but sometimes I just have to be ok with letting things be in process.

NOTE: The photo above is of this amazing project. It is actually under construction and I'm so excited to see it begin to take shape in the coming weeks!

IN CONSTRUCTION: Trillium Signage and Lighting

Exterior signage is up and the lights are on. Trillium Brewing is coming to life. No firm opening date yet, but as soon as I know I'll pass the information on to you. Looking forward to seeing you there!

IN CONSTRUCTION: A stone wall

A couple of days ago I posted about a great little project I've been working on. Well, construction is well underway and here are a few images and drawings of the details. It's a hot tub and landscape wall that doubles as stairs and a platform to get into the cedar tub. I wanted to keep the wall minimal and expose most of the cedar planks the tub is made out of. I love the contrast in materials and how well the composition sits in the landscape.

IN CONSTRUCTION: Trillium Brewing Co.

Yes, it's still not finished, but getting closer. After a lovely coffee at Barrington Coffee Company this weekend, we stopped by Trillium to see how things are going. I am in love with the bar top. It's made from 22ft. long wood beams that JC (the owner and my friend) salvaged from a demolition project nearby.   These beautiful old-growth wood has such character. A little tung oil rubbed in and the grain of the wood is now the star of this show.
Here are a few snapshots of the progress.

IN CONSTRUCTION: Trillium Brewing Co.

No doubt you have, by now, heard about Trillium Brewing Company. It's a project I've been working on for over a year. Yesterday I stopped by to see progress on the tasting room/retail space. The guys at G.H. McKissock Construction are doing an amazing job with all the little details of this small space . I love the reclaimed windows the owner JC got from a building next door in Fort Point Chanel. They really are turning out to be the show piece of the space. Here's a peak!
What do you think? Will you stop in for some craft beer when it opens in the Fall?

IN CONSTRUCTION: The Airstream Lounge

You may remember way back I mentioned working the design for the interior of an Airstream! It's in construction and it's looking pretty great.
I can't wait for the final reveal, but until then here are snippets of the thing growing prettier everyday.

(and I think I'll keep using it as a great backdrop for photo shoots)

IN CONSTRUCTION: Trillium Brewing Company

(before)
Trillium Brewing Company is a project dear to my heart! My good friends JC and Esther are building a brewery in the Fort Point Channel and I'm the lucky girl who got to design it.
It started back in...well, when did it start? Let's just say the design process started a while back. After months of work and waiting, we are in the midst of construction! It's exciting to see what started on paper take shape in the real world.
(during)

It's happening! The sidewalk is poured, the glass is in and the ipe wood wall is halfway up. I am loving the way it looks. It's happening fast, so check back for more progress photos soon. There is signage and lighting and a lovely bench/planter on the way!
